The first thing you should do when you are doing windows data recovery is to shut down the computer you need to perform the data recovery process on. The best thing you can do is find another computer that is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You would then download your computer recovery software onto the second computer, and go back to the computer you were on and remove the hard drive from it. Take the removed hard drive and install it on the second computer as a data drive. In case you are using a laptop, a laptop computer hard drive can easily be connected to your desktop computer with an adapter that is available at most computer stores you go to. You will then want to make sure that your windows program does not use the “Check Disk” utility to repair the drive. Use your data recovery program to do your windows data recovery on the second computer you are using.

What If You Do Not Have a Second Computer?

The above process describes the most efficient way to carry out a data recovery operation. But many a times, we do not have the luxury of a second computer.

If you do not have a second computer, make sure you shut down your computer right away. With the second step of your windows data recovery, you are still going to have to remove the hard drive of this computer. You will then need to install a new drive, reinstall windows and use your recovery software on it. Once you have done this, you can install a new drive on your computer. Then you will reinstall the drive back in the computer as a data drive. You have to make sure that the Windows “Check Disk” utility program does not try to repair the drive when it is booted. I do most of my work from my laptop.  It’s getting older and needed a new battery, but I held off because I just leave it on my desk and rarely unplug it anyway.  Well, sure enough my company sent me across the country for the first time in the 8 years I’ve worked for them to do a training for their new office.  Not wanted to have to search around this office for a power outlet, I went online to find a new laptop battery.  It actually wasn’t too expensive to get a battery, although I did have to get a refurbished one as my laptop is apparently so outdated that they don’t sell new batteries for that model anymore.  Now that the trip is over, I’ve put in a request for a new laptop, when your computer is so old that you can’t get a new battery, you need an upgrade.

I had an interesting experience.  I know this has happened to everyone at least once, but it always seems like the end of the world when it happens to you.  Four days before my senior thesis was due my laptop battery died.  No recharging, no nothing.  I knew I could use the power cord as much as possible, but I had to take my laptop to the lab, etc and really needed that battery.  That night I found a place online that sold new laptop batteries and would ship overnight.  I can’t believe how fast I worked over the next couple of days, but that battery was a lifesaver.

I’ve always wondered how much it would cost to rebuild my computer.  I’m a do-it-yourself kind of gal and have wallpapered my entire house, installed my own sprinkler system, and just started re-upholstering the living room furniture, but I tend to shy away from technical things.  Since I got the instructions for all my other little projects online, I decided to start checking out parts for my laptop and see if I couldn’t find some sort of step by step manual on the web.  I couldn’t believe how cheap it is to buy new laptop batteries.  I may hold off on rebuilding the whole computer, but I think I can handle replacing my battery when the time comes.

This may seem a little strange, but I started buying extra laptop batteries when I was in college.  A couple of my buddies who were in the computer department would order them online and charge them in their computer.  While in class they would always have a couple in their bag to make sure that they could just shut down and switch out if they needed to.  Now that I’m in the real world, I still do the same thing if I know I have a long day or a bunch of meetings where I’ll need my laptop.  The batteries aren’t that expensive and it just makes it easier.

I got my laptop about two and a half years ago.  I know we live in a culture where everything comes and goes so quickly, but I didn’t think I had had it a very long time.  I take good care of my computer, so I was disappointed when my battery stopped holding a charge.  I was afraid that I would have to replace the entire computer, but when I checked online I found that it’s possible to buy new laptop batteries.  I was nervous to order something for my computer online, but the batteries weren’t that expensive and the site was secure so I went for it.  I got my new battery in the mail 3 days later and I have to say that my computer is working better than ever.

Now that you have fought off the nasty crowds at the electronics store, and secured your Nintendo Wii system, got it home without incident and into your house, this is what you should do. Follow these steps to set up your Wii:

1) Remove the Wii from the box
2) Remove the AV cable and the AC adapter
3) Remove the stand plate, vertical stand, sensor bar and sensor-bar stand
4) Remove the Nunchuk and Wii Remote
5) Choose your location near the TV for your Wii and set it up vertically or horizontally
6) Connect the AV cable and the AC adapter to the Wii
7) Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. Connect the AV cable to the input on your TV. Connect the yellow cable to the video input and the red and white cables to the audio inputs
Get out the remote control and put in the batteries
9) Turn on your Wii
10) The onscreen instructions will appear and you will be required to choose your language, location, time of day, etc.

Capturing pictures of holiday lights was very difficult in the past because of the limitations with film sensitivity. Since holiday lights are not very bright, they can be seen well only at night. Using a flash is not an option, because this would wash out the lights themselves, defeating the purpose. So capturing holiday lights meant having to use either a very long exposure time or very sensitive film — or both — in order to capture a quality image. Each option presented it’s own problem: A long exposure time increases the chances of a blurred shot unless extra setup time and equipment is used (e.g. a tripod and a remote shutter release to keep the camera as steady as possible), and high ISO film typically created a more grainy image.

Today’s digital cameras have solved these problems, and now allow anyone to capture beautiful shots of holiday lights.
