Why go hands free?

I was planning a trip involving some Minnesota tourism, so not being from that state I was on the computer searching for things to do. I was worried about not being able to use my cell phone while driving in that state, like some other states where it is illegal. I did get one of those blue tooth things you stick on your ear and my phone does have voice calling so I figured I was safe. Besides Minnesota has a lot of open roads and there aren’t a lot of enforcement people out there. I think the whole debate about hands free is rather stupid anyway. Sure people being on cell phones have caused accidents, but I doubt it was the actual holding it in your hand that was the problem. More likely they were looking at the phone trying to find a name or number or they were so involved in their conversation that they didn’t pay attention to things going on around therm. Now just because you aren’t touching your phone isn’t going to stop either of those problems. The Onstar systems put in some vehicles will alleviate the looking up numbers and names, but even that can’t focus the drivers attention. As far as the being too involved in conversation, well isn’t that the same thing if you have someone else in the car talking to you?
