The Evolution of Halo by Bungie

If you were to think of a popular name in the gaming industry, who would you think of? Does Bungie Studio’s come to mind? Maybe the word Halo might be a better word. The developer’s of Halo by Bungie was originally founded in 1991 by two undergraduate students. When they first started they went by the name ‘Bungie Software Products Corporation’ and primarily released games for Macintosh. However in 2000 they teamed up with Microsoft to produce a killer first-person shooter that went by the name of Halo. Although before the highly successful Halo trilogy came onto the market, they also produce such games as the Myth series, Marathon and Oni.

When Halo: Combat Evolved first entered the gaming market, it quickly became Xbox’s flagship franchise. It sold more then 6.5 million copies during its release. In 2004 Halo 2 was put out onto the gaming market and surpassed everything that Halo: Combat Evolved had achieved. In its first day of release, Halo 2 sold $125 million worth of copies. Another three years later and Halo by Bungie came out with its 3rd and final game of the trilogy called Halo 3. During its first 24 hours of release, Halo 3 surpassed what Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 had achieved and sold $170 million and also became the largest pre-ordered game in gaming history.
