Has anyone attended the Actuate user conference? This is the first year I am going, and I’m not sure what to expect. I am an Actuate customer and have been involve with Business Intelligence reporting since 2005. Unlike other BI conferences, the attendees at this conference are a fair mix of technical and LOB folks. With Actuate’s upcoming launch of version 10, they have sessions on new features and capabilities across all products. Also, if you are a BIRT user, they have many useful tracks on BIRT implementations and a post-conference technical training.

iPods are one of the greatest new inventions of our time. They replace the hassle of CDs and cassettes and are easy for us to carry. We can take our iPods wherever we have to go and the battery life is incredible, so we are never without our music.

The MPLS network versatility is such that the technology can deliver anything from IP VPNs to Metro Ethernet services in addition to provisioning optical services.

Instead of making the router need to “decide” where to send every bit or byte of information that comes through it, MPLS overcomes possible delay and fragmentation of information flow by assigning every new packet of information in the network an FEC (forwarding equivalence class) by appending a brief “label”, or bit of identifying information, to the packet.

Well it finally happened, the new iPhone 3G is out. And it’s enhanced with a number of new features including: twice the download speed with the new iPhone 3G technology; GPS maps with current traffic; email synching with Microsoft Exchange for business users; and access to the new iPhone Applications Store.

This new iPhone is definitely the ultimate iPod that Apple has produced and I have a feeling that these improvements are just for now and as the competition for cell phones increase, Apple will remain ahead of the pack in future developments.

I think I may be the last person in the world without a cell phone. I’m pretty sure I’m the last student without a cell phone, as even my fourteen year-old cousin, someone who can’t even get behind the wheel of a car, has her own phone. I was walking through a department store the other day and I saw a phone designed for elementary school children; it didn’t have any numbers, only buttons to call numbers that the kids’ parents have pre-programmed into the phone. And then there’s me, well past twenty years old and still phone-less.
