Notebooks With “No Video” Problem

A common problem for owners of Dell, Mac, and HP notebooks is the total loss of video. The screen stays black, while the computer is otherwise operating normally. The buttons light up, fan operates, but the video id completely dead.

This problem is often caused by a manufacturing defect brought about by a flaw in the way the Nvidia chip is attached to the motherboard. The chip is subject to overheating, when it does it disconnects from the motherboard, then of course your video goes away.

As long as the chip or other parts of the motherboard are not permanently damaged, there is a relatively simple fix for this problem. You can find more details about this at HP Laptop Black Screen Fix.
