If you were to think of the best first-person shooter that’s available for a console, what would you say it is? Many gamers would say it’s Halo 3 for Xbox. Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2000 and is considered by many as one of the best first-person shooters that is available for a console. The gamer plays as the character called Master Chief. Although he’s been dubbed by many as the silent warrior he is accompanied by an AI companion who goes by the name Cortana. Through Cortana the gamer learns a lot of background information during game play and she also provides a lot of comedic relief.

Since the Halo series, especially the first Halo game has been dubbed the best first-person shooter for a console; other consoles have tried to achieve what Halo has accomplished in the first-person shooter genre. After the release of Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2000, Bungie Studio’s released Halo 2 in 2004. Halo 2 broke sales records that Halo: Combat Evolved had achieved. In 2007 Halo 3 for Xbox, the third and possibly final installment of the game was released and sold over $170 million worth of copies within the first 24 hours of its release.

The developer’s of Halo by Bungie was originally founded in 1991 by two undergraduate students. When they first started they went by the name ‘Bungie Software Products Corporation’ and primarily released games for Macintosh. However in 2000 they teamed up with Microsoft to produce a killer first-person shooter that went by the name of Halo. Although before the highly successful Halo trilogy came onto the market, they also produce such games as the Myth series, Marathon and Oni.

When Halo: Combat Evolved first entered the gaming market, it quickly became Xbox’s flagship franchise. It sold more then 6.5 million copies during its release. In 2004 Halo 2 was put out onto the gaming market and surpassed everything that Halo: Combat Evolved had achieved. In its first day of release, Halo 2 sold $125 million worth of copies. Another three years later and Halo by Bungie came out with its 3rd and final game of the trilogy called Halo 3. During its first 24 hours of release, Halo 3 surpassed what Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 had achieved and sold $170 million and also became the largest pre-ordered game in gaming history.

Another new addition to Halo 3 are the Halo 3 Skulls. These skulls once obtained can allow the gamer to change their game play by making it more challenging, or changing things such as dialogue or appearance. These skulls are generally placed out of the way so that gamers have to look around in different levels to be able to find them. This however does tend to lead to frustration for many gamers who have no idea where to look. For those gamers, there are many different walkthroughs available for them all over the internet to help them obtain these skulls.

With the Halo 3 skulls there are two different categories. There are the Gold Skulls and the Silver Skulls and each of these skulls in both categories achieve something different. Golden skulls when first found, will give the gamer 10 gamer points. In total there are 9 of these skulls available to be found and when all 9 have been collected, they will unlock the body and shoulder Hayabusa armor for the gamer. The Gold skulls are known to affect game play and if the gamer chooses to do so, can make the game more challenging for them.

The games haven’t stopped there either. A real time strategy game has been developed by Ensemble studio’s and will be released for the Xbox 360. It’s also been recorded that the developer’s of Halo have been in works with Peter Jackson to release another game called Halo Chronicles. It’s also been said by many that Halo for Xbox has allowed the Xbox to become as popular as it is today, and since Halo 3 for Xbox 360 was released, it’s been a great marketing aspect for gamers to purchase the Xbox 360.

A gamer can play as the Covenant Elite character or they can play as Master Chief or also known as UNSC SPARTAN-II. These new armor permutations we’re first introduce during the Halo 3 beta, and all of the new armor can be unlocked by accomplishing different tasks through out the campaign game play or multiplayer game play.

Since there are two characters’s that gamers can choose to play as for their online character, means that there are different Halo 3 Armor permutations available for either character they choose. For a gamer who chooses to play as an Elite character, they can choose from 5 helmets, 5 shoulder pieces and 5 chest pieces to give themselves a combo of 1 helmet, 2 shoulder pieces and 1 chest piece for their character. Now, since not all players usually play as a Covenant Elite character there are not as many armor permutations as there are for the gamer that plays as the character of Master Chief. So for the gamer that chooses the Covenant Elite character, there are 625 different permutations available to be chosen from.

In order for a gamer to obtain any of the Halo 3 skulls, they have to begin their level from the beginning and be playing on Normal difficulty or higher. Once a Halo 3 Skull has been obtained the gamer can then save and quit the level, they don’t actually have to finish it. This however is not the case with the IWHBYD skulls.

Due to the highly successful sales of the Halo Trilogy, many have dubbed the Halo Franchise as ‘Halo Nation’. However the franchise didn’t just stop with the games. There have been graphic novels and novels written as well as many other types of licensed products. Even though Halo 3 is for Xbox only, the games have been released for the PC. Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 have already been released and gamers are patiently waiting for the release of Halo 3 for their home PC’s.

There are a few different ways that a gamer can unlock these Halo 3 Armor permutations. Some armor pieces may already be unlocked by default for both characters, however other pieces will be unlocked in different ways. You can unlock armor by beating the campaign in either the Heroic difficulty or the Legendary difficulty. Other pieces of armor can be unlocked by completely achievements throughout the game.

Silver skulls however are different. They will not unlock any achievements and there are 4 Silver skulls in total. When a gamer collects all of the Silver Skulls they will be able to change the physics, dialogue and appearance of the game. Take for example the IWHBYD skull, better known as the ‘I Would Have Been Your Daddy’ skulls. When this skull is found and unlocked it can change dialogue for the AI players. The gamer may hear AI brutes saying ‘Pie is good’ or they may hear AI Marines saying ‘THIS IS SPARTA!’

Four years later came the highly anticipated sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, which was called Halo 2. Home software is not easy to come by if you want something with good quality. I would check with the local Office Depot first and then ask around at home depot. I personally use home design software and it works great.

The keepers of the Badlands Petrified Gardens wanted a way to keep track of just where all their assets were because tourists would often grab a piece to take home as a souvenir and when they were found the group wanted to put them back in the correct place. They came up with some imaging software that would take the object and search through the database to see where it came from. The first job was to go out and take pictures of the entire area. This was accomplished with a low flying helicopter so that all the shots could be taken at the same height. Then these images were loaded into the computer and it began examining all the pieces of each individual picture and developing a table of length, width, height, and material and matching that to a grid of locations of the area. Now when they confiscate a piece that a tourist has tried to abscond with they simply take it to a special table where a picture is taken of it. The computer then takes that image and compares it to the images it has in memory and spits out a grid location. The worker can then look up that location on his own picture and place the object back in it’s original location with it’s original orientation.
