With the supply chain of books becoming increasingly e-based, paper-filled books were always going to turn into e books. They are also sporadically spotted on eBay and when they are, are surely to be accompanied by price premium.

Electronic book readers are a boon not only to people, they are environmentally friendly too. Imagine the number of trees a top brand like Kindle can be credited with saving from the paper mill for books let alone the total effect of all e book reader brands combined. Through the Whispersync, the 15 million or so iPhones and iPod Touches are recently equipped to read Amazon e-titles making them green too overnight.

Kindle Electronic Book Reader save money too. Savvy readers would realize that Amazon subsidizes its Kindle book sales and provides free sampling of e-books so you are never mistaken about buying a book. That may be string attached to sell its electronic book reader but the bottom line makes sense at the end of the day. Even for occasional readers, this should be a no-brainer. That was the original Kindle which took the world of reading by storm and we generally agreed that that was the peak of perfection. But no, not quite, we now have the Kindle plus-plus. Yes, the Kindle 2 has arrived, looking better and bringing more.

Like many other things, new-wave reading is electronic. If the e book reader is Oprah’s current favorite gadget, so will it be for many of her fans. Sure enough, the Kindles have been flying off the shelves. Plenty of new-brand e-book readers are coming onto the bandwagon fast and furious but the safest bet is still placed with the long established top two players: the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS respectively. With the launch of the Kindle 2, the talk in reading circles is that Amazon has put itself in a league solely of its own drawing away even from the Sony PRS.

When my wife and I were first retired, we were bored. We had nothing to do all the time, which was nice for the first few months. But then we wanted to be out doing things. We traveled for a while, but we always preferred being home. We picked up some hobbies, but they didn’t last. Finally we decided to open our own commercial laundry, knowing that we could run the place and get to meet all sorts of interesting people. And since we used coinless machines, like in the article “Retirement Home’s High Tech Laundry System,” we didn’t have to be there on the days that we had better things to do. It was great!
