3D technology for the home is just around the horizon. 3D TVs, blu-ray players and now 3D home theater receivers are slowly but surely being introduced to the market so that consumers can take advantage of the new technology when it becomes mainstream.

Pioneer has introduced a list of mid-range and budget AV receivers. The Pioneer VSX-520-K is the entry level receiver which retails for a very affordable $229. Though cheap, it is not bare bones. Solar powered cars will get here eventually. In the 1990’s, emissions laws were being enforced throughout the United States. Many colleges and universities began looking at the possibility of solar powered cars. The finding were that the solar collectors for the cars to run were too large to be put into the vehicles. Recently a customer of ours told us how GPS units had helped save him a substantial amount of money. He ran a business and was out of the office most of the time dealing with customers and suppliers. Because he was gone so much he suspected that his employees were using company vehicles at odd times and were clocking hours they weren’t working.
While he had his suspicions he didn’t have a way to prove them so one weekend he installed GPS tracking units into his vehicles without telling the drivers. He waited until Wednesday to check the information and when he did he got quite a shock. When he was out of his office his drivers would return at 3:30 but wouldn’t clock out until 5:00. Not only was that going on, he found out that his drivers were using the trucks to help their friends transport things from place to place, and were not paying for the gas they were using.
Because he didn’t pay his employees for time they weren’t working, the GPS units saved him a substantial amount of money and paid for themselves within a few days. On top of that, they helped keep his drivers in line once they learned about them.
Although it would be nice to trust all of your drivers it just isn’t realistic, and GPS devices can add an extra amount of comfort in knowing that you will be aware of every move your drivers are making.

The Nikon D700 is Nikon’s excellent full-frame SLR that takes the D3’s large ‘FX’ format sensor and squeezes it into smaller body. It is cheaper and much lighter than the flagship D3X, making the D700 an affordable full-frame DSLR. This puts it within reach of most enthusiasts who demand top performance at high ISO levels.

In the race for the 3D technology pie, major electronics giants Sony, Samsung and Panasonic have announced their line of 3D televisions and 3D capable bluray players. Sony is first to officially release its 3D player called the Sony BDP-S470 which is slated to be released in the middle of next month. It will initially be a 2D player pending a firmware update that will come in Summer.

Panasonic will also follow suit with its flagship DMP-BDT350. It received the Consumer Electronics Association’s esteemed Innovations Award 2010 for its innovative 3D technology. The 3D ready BDT350 features VIERA CAST, 96kHz surround sound re-master, multi-format playback and 1080p up-conversion for DVDs. It is the only player with dual HDMI outputs.

Consumer electronics powerhouse Sony not too long ago released 3 brand new blu-ray players during the recent CES in Las Vegas. The models are Sony BDP-S370, Sony BDP-S570, and Sony BDP-S770. These players will feature Sony’s new Monolithic Design Concept. These players are capable of decoding all the high resolution audio codecs such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master audio.

When connected to a broadband Internet network, they will instantly stream movies, videos, music and more from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, YouTube™, Slacker® Internet Radio, Pandora®, NPR, Sony Pictures, Sony Music, and many other content providers through the Sony BRAVIA Internet Video platform. Sony claims improved start up and disc loading performance for their new players. This is something that has been the bugbear of previous generation blu-ray players.

No pricing or release date has been announced but these players look poised to continue the success of Sony’s highly successful blu-ray players.

CNC machines are sophisticated pieces of machinery and are typically more expensive than manually operated machines, although costs are slowly coming down. CNC machines are simple to set up and program and are capable of having a large quantity of specifications entered into the system to produce complex bending geometries. These machines are normally found in machine shops, but with recent development of inexpensive controllers are now showing up more commonly in home shops and small businesses. Modern CNC equipment is also capable of running overnight or for several days without human supervision.
