Another acquisition of Google is the Picasa business. Their flagship product Picasa is to me the best value out of their free offerings. Picasa used to cost $29 but Google has decided to make this product a free Picasa download. Picasa is a full featured photo editor product with a wide variety of photo management features such as photo editing and photo sharing. This is an indispensable tool for those who use digital cameras.

Small digital cameras are now available that are so small they can be part of a pen for James Bond to take images for all his surveillance work.

I use a small digital camera as my second camera, so that when I want to take a quick image and don’t have to make too many adjustments to the camera.

My main digital camera is a larger camera and takes images really fast, but it requires a fair amount of concentration and fiddly adjustments to make sure I get the image I want.

Slide shows present a sequence of images to tell a story. For example, they may detail the history of photography in a presentation format. Another may show the fun and frivolity of party pictures.

The slide shows are placed online on websites like My Space and Squidoo. Then the world can look at your images and you get immediate feedback.

I entered the world of Myspace rather timidly. It seemed to be a world made for those who were younger than me. I had a lot of friends urging me to sign up though, so I went ahead and did it.

I don’t spend a lot of time there, but I do go on occasion to visit those friends. What I have noticed is that Myspace seems to change each day, and there are more and more things you can add to your page.

One thing that many seem to be getting in record numbers are slide shows.

Image editor software is used to adjust images taken with your digital camera. You can add text, manipulate the image, take out bits of the image, add bits from other images. The world is your oyster.

Once I got my digital camera, I became crazy when taking pictures. I have always loved to take pictures, but now that I have a digital camera, I can take even more than ever.

This does not mean that all of my pictures come out as I wish them to be, but it does mean that I have more power over the end result.
