If you want to understand what Registry Keys are, you have to think of them as folders in a cabinet. Each folder will contain sub-folders or subkeys and each of those subkeys may have data that would then be categorized further. In a nut shell it functions as a storage medium for data and the data is separated by folders then sub folders and so on. The Registry Keys contain data that your computer uses in order to function correctly. If you are missing any of the keys, you will definitely have problems with your computer.
